Our first Arabian stallion was the much missed Ibn Marino Marini (Marino/Marini/The Lady Camille), Bertie was typical of his Crabbet/Old English blood lines, had a temperament second to none and would willingly turn his hoof to anything asked of him including racing, endurance, dressage and jumping. It is this willingness and desire to work with people that we want to perpetuate.
For many years Mandy had much admired the pure bred Spanish horse and had become increasingly interested in the Hispano Arabe. Hispano`s are the straight cross between the Arabian and Andalusian and were originally bred as tough athletic cavalry remounts and stock horses. They are superb all-rounders who also happen to look gorgeous.
Our search began for a suitable Andalusian stallion and in 1996 we purchased Balconero II. Balconero had everything we were looking for in a Hispano sire, wonderful temperament, excellent limbs, straight movement and Terry/Militar bloodlines. He had also been competed successfully across many disciplines and was remarkably tough.
Balconero proved very quickly that he was the right choice for producing both Hispano Arabes and part breds. Many of his stock have excelled in performance and in hand showing and we hope that his sons, Desperado and El Bandito will continue his wonderful legacy.
Bryndyfan is also, and equally importantly, home to our small herd of predominantly Crabbet/Old English Arabian mares.
We feel that these bloodlines have all the attributes that we look for in the ridden Arabian.
